Description (eng)
A phase change material (PCM) is a substance that undergoes a phase transition, during which it absorbs or releases a significant amount of thermal energy. This energy exchange occurs at a nearly constant temperature. The latent heat of fusion associated with the phase change is typically substantially greater than the specific (sensible) heat capacity, making PCMs highly effective for thermal energy storage applications.
